Renewable energy means a bright, cleaner future for all of Australia. The industry needs both supportive laws and Government support to thrive. But vital funding for the industry is currently under serious threat.
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) contributes funding to renewable energy activities across the country, improving the competitiveness of renewable energy technologies, and increasing the supply of renewable energy in Australia.
At the same time as approving the massive polluting Adani Carmichael coal mine, the Turnbull Government has introduced the “omnibus” savings bill which includes a plan to strip back $1.3 billion of ARENA’s funding - and they are currently chasing support of the opposition.
Without this funding, lots of job creating renewable energy projects are at risk. We cannot let this happen!
Stand with us and together let’s tell Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Leader of the Opposition Bill Shorten the people of Australia say NO to stripping ARENA of $1.3 billion in current funding.
Dear Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Leader of the Opposition Bill Shorten:
- Instead of allowing polluting projects like Adani's Carmichael coal mine, now is the time to be investing in renewable technology.
- Innovation in renewable energy is key to boosting sustainable jobs for Australians, encouraging investment in the renewable energy industry, and tackling dangerous climate change.
- We call on you to listen to energy companies, CSIRO, conservation groups, academics and the Australian people, who all agree that the $1.3 billion dollars of ARENA's current funding should continue.
- We call on you to maintain the Renewable Energy Target, and expand it to a more ambitious goal of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2035, to ensure Australia does its bit in the global move to address the threat of climate change.
